Robert Mackersie, MD

Robert Mackersie, M.D., specializes in trauma surgery. Dr. Mackersie is professor of surgery at the University of California, San Francisco, and Director of Trauma Services at San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center. Dr. Mackersie is attending surgeon and physician in the department of surgery and critical care and the University of California, San Francisco.

He has served as commissioner of the Emergency Medical Services Authority of California; as a member of the ACS Committee on Trauma from 1998 to 2006; and as a Governor of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Mackersie chaired the American College of Surgeons Trauma Systems Planning and Evaluation Committee, and has served as an ACS surveyor for the verification of trauma centers since 2001.

He has participated or led numerous verification and consultation teams for the ACS and in private consultation in Levels I, II and III centers throughout the U.S.
