Mike Young, MD, MS

Michael Young, MD specializes in critical care medicine, critical care cost management, quality improvement and outcomes research.

Dr Young completed his undergraduate training at Yale University, he graduated from School of Medicine at the University of Vermont and then completed his Internal Medicine residency at the Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Oakland, CA.  He subsequently completed Critical Care fellowship training at both the University of Pittsburgh and Stanford University. This was followed by Fellowship training in Outcomes Research at Dartmouth College.  He joined the faculty at Wake Forest University in 2010. Prior to moving to North Carolina, Dr Young was on faculty at the University of Vermont, UCSF and Stanford University. He also worked for 6 years at Intermountain Health in Utah as a critical care physician while doing quality improvement work and research with Drs. Alan Morris, Brent James and Terry Clemmer. Dr Young has worked for the Institute of Health Care Improvement.

Dr Young has published articles on the outcomes of mechanical ventilation in the elderly, the use of Fuzzy Logic in the ICU, the impact of staffing models on ICU outcomes and a variety of other topics related to critical care.
